Buy to let owners given advice on renting out properties

Buy to let owners have been handed top tips on how to rent out their properties if they are doing so for the first time.

According to the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (ARLA), there are a few things landlords can do in order to make their buy to let property more appealing to tenants.

It firstly suggested to decide whether to let out the accommodation fully, partly or unfurnished, adding that rents are often higher for furnished properties.

Secondly, landlords were told to research regulations on white goods and electrical equipment for buy to let accommodation in order to meet safety regulations.

Landlords could also earn a higher income by doing minor renovations to the property so that it appeals more to the renter, including painting it in neutral colours, it was recommended.

This advice could be of use to buy to let owners who want to take advantage of the growing rental market after Countrywide revealed last week that there was a 19 per cent rise in the number of tenants who registered an interest during the third quarter of the year. ADNFCR-1222-ID-800260331-ADNFCR
