Homebuyers advised to buy weather-resistant properties for sale

People looking to purchase houses for sale in the UK have been advised to check the properties are weather-resistant.

Legal & General has warned people that making homes weather-proof is going to be a valuable thing to do this winter in order to prevent any lasting damage occurring to the property.

Pricing and underwriting director at the firm's general insurance business Malcolm Cooper suggested checking the home's pipes to be a good move.

"Burst pipes can be a very stressful experience, especially during the winter months," he stated.

Mr Cooper added it is worth making sure the pipes and tanks are in good working order, as they have the potential to freeze.

Homebuyers could be inclined to check for gaps in windows and doors, as these will enable rain to leak into the house causing dampness.

Loose roof tiles and slates should also be looked at, as these could fall off during severe weather conditions.

Earlier this week, Confused.com told potential homeowners to check whether houses have a good drainage system that will resist bad weather before making an offer.ADNFCR-1222-ID-800233621-ADNFCR
